For some reason, whenever I think of poor people or the lower class, I always think of "The Gathering of the Juggalos". The Gathering of the Juggalos is a music festival put on by the rap-rock duo, Insane Clown Posse. To many, including myself, the group is a subject of ridicule and jokes. Their lyrics are usually violent, disgusting, and nonsensical, and they always paint their faces like clowns. Pictures of the Gathering on the internet almost always show people many would describe as "white trash" However, the group has a huge following of die hard fans, that call themselves Juggalos, and it seems like most fans are lower class. There may be a correlation between the lower class and violent music. It reminds me of the song we listened to and analyzed in class "16 tons" where the working class man in the song referred to his fists and implied that he was good at fighting. The working class may feel like they need some sort of upper hand on those higher up on the social ladder. It's interesting to think about that different social classes are that different that they listen to different types of music.
